What We Do With Our Waste

At Ted’s Veg, we work hard to keep waste to a minimum and make sure as much of our produce as possible is put to good use.

Fresh food should feed people first, and where that is not possible, we look for responsible ways to return it to the land and support a more circular system.

Keeping Good Food in Use

Not every fruit or vegetable is “shop perfect”, but that does not mean it has no value.

Where possible, we use Too Good To Go to help make sure perfectly good produce still reaches people instead of going to waste. It is a simple way for us to reduce surplus, make food more accessible, and give great produce a second chance.

By doing this, we are able to cut down on unnecessary waste while making the most of what we grow and stock.

Giving Back to the Land

When produce is no longer suitable for sale or consumption, we do not see that as the end of its journey.

Instead, we make sure it is ploughed back into the land, helping return organic matter to the soil. This supports the ground that supports us, feeding back into the growing cycle in a natural and responsible way.

It is one of the ways we try to keep our business as sustainable and considered as possible — making sure that even what cannot be sold still has a purpose.

Our Approach

We believe waste should be the last resort, not the first option.

That means:

  • Finding ways to keep good food in circulation
  • Reducing avoidable surplus wherever we can
  • Returning unavoidable organic waste back to the land
  • Continually looking for better, more responsible ways to operate

A More Thoughtful Cycle

For us, this is about more than waste disposal. It is about respecting the produce, the land, and the work that goes into growing food.

From Too Good To Go to ploughing back into the soil, we want to make sure as little as possible is lost and as much value as possible is passed on.
